Beware of non qualified mediators

Beware of COVID-19 scammers – Epping Forest District Council
Finding the right Mediator Plymouth Mediation

Recently we have seen an increase in non qualified people advertising as Mediators in our area, and what’s worse their fees are almost the same as ours, and they are unqualified.

The really important thing to remember when choosing a mediator is that the person must be on the register of Family Mediators with the Family Mediation Council, if they are not then they have not been trained to undertake this work.

There are 2 types of Family Mediator – one who is fully accredited and qualified to assist you and the other who are working towards being accredited and qualified to help you.

Don’t be fooled by making the mistake of signing up for mediation with a non registered Mediator as this may mean you need to repeat the process with a qualified Mediator if things don’t work out in mediation. The thing to look out for is whether the person says they are able to sign a C100/FM1 form. If they can’t they are not qualified.

If in doubt you check you the link on the find a mediator website with the Family Mediation Council here
