Get financial help to pay for mediation

Legal Aid for Mediation

Depending on your financial circumstances you may be eligible for Legal Aid, which means that you would not need to pay for Mediation, and your ex-partner also gets the first 1-1 meeting and the first joint session for free.

Family Mediation Voucher Scheme

If neither of you are eligible for Legal Aid, then we are able to provide a Government Voucher scheme worth up to £500 when you also discuss Child Arrangements.

About Mediation

Family mediation is a way of resolving disputes which arise before, during or after separation or divorce. It can also be helpful to avoid problems arising.
  • Arrangements for children including- where the children will live, how they will spend time with each parents / or wider family, sometimes called Child contact or Residency
  • How both parents can best support the children both financially and emotionally
  • Child refusal or resistance to spend time with one of their parents
  • Divorcing or separating couples who need assistance in reaching agreement around finances including Property, Pensions and Maintenance without the huge expense of Solicitors
  • Assist grandparents wishing to arrange time with their grandchildren
  • Mediate between other family members where there has been a break-down in relationships and communication

A MIAM (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting) is the first step in the Family Mediation process, it is a meeting with the mediator who will be working with you at Children 1st Family Mediation.
